About the Department

The department rightly boasts of modern facilities to provide ambience and support extra curriculam activities for overall development of students. Department has dedicated and qualified faculty to ensure high standard of teaching - learning and evaluation processes. Periodic review on syllabus completed and feedback from students to determine their areas of difficulty ensures excellent and consistent academic results.

With academics, the soft skills programs (personality development, communication skills, group discussions, debate, etc) which is a continuous process for development of students is pursued in earnest so as to facilitate better placement opportunities . The staff is also involved in the constant process of upgrading their technical skill.

The Department endeavors to provide best prefessional opportunities to our students and look forward to their bright future. We do not aim to make our students walking manuals of any language or package. Instead, they are given a strong foundation in computer science and problem-solving techniques and are made adaptable to changes inorder to make sucessful professionals in a dynamic global environment. Technology changes rapidly, especially in the field of computing, our understanding is that persons who are clear and thorough about the fundamentals can adapt to dynamic situations.

It made an ambitious plan on two fronts- viz. to start International Certification Programs for the career advancements of students and secondly to collaborate with leading Corporate for Industry Institute interactions. The Bachelor of Engineering Program in Computer Engineering commenced from the academic year 2010-11. The current student intake capacity is 60.The department has well-equipped laboratories consisting of the state-of-the-art servers & computers - used by the students of Computer Engineering.

Department Objectives

The goals of the Computer department are to prepare students for graduate training in some specialized area of computer science, to prepare students for jobs in industry, business or government, and to provide support courses for students in engineering, mathematics and other fields requiring computing skills.Upon successful completion of a major in computer , students will be able to:

  • Demonstrate proficiency in problem-solving techniques using the computer.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in at least two high-level programming languages and two operating systems.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the analysis of complex problems and the synthesis of solutions to those problems.
  • Demonstrate comprehension of modern software engineering principles
  • Demonstrate a breadth and depth of knowledge in the discipline of computer science.

Research

R&D Cell has been established to promote and monitor the research Programs of the Department. R & D cell is headed by Dr. V. A. Suryawanshi (Assistant Professor). The cell administers all the research Programs. It monitors and coordinates the research Programs.   • Dr. Uke Nilesh J. along with Priya Pise, Ashish Dudhale, Akhilesh Kumar Mishra published Machine Learning And Visual Computing Observation System in the Journal of Data Acquisition and Processing, Vol: 38 (3) in May 2023.
  • Dr. Wagh Mukund B. along with Vishal V. Puri, Sanjay B. Parents’ Meeting to share students’ academic progress and technological skill development. Teachers presented updates on classroom activities, digital projects, and upcoming departmental initiatives. We appreciate the valuable participation of parents and look forward to continued collaboration in supporting students’ growth in computer education.

The department regularly hosts alumni interactions to inspire and guide current students. Distinguished graduates share their career journeys, industry insights, and professional experiences. These sessions create opportunities for mentorship, networking, and skill development. The initiative strengthens the bond between alumni and the department, fostering a supportive academic community.

The Computer Department organized an FDP led by an in-house expert, focusing on enhancing faculty skills and academic growth. Participants received valuable insights on Research and Development and exposure to emerging technologies.All attendees were awarded certificates, recognizing their active participation and successful completion of the program.

The Computer Department organized an exciting Hackfest in collaboration with Mile2 Company. Participants engaged in cybersecurity-focused challenges that tested problem-solving and technical skills. The event provided hands-on exposure to real-world security scenarios, encouraging innovation and teamwork among students.
